How it works

Image-led, audio-second, text-third

Designed for kids who can't read yet — and for the grown-ups reading along.

1

Listen

A two-to-three minute story plays with a Ken-Burns illustration. Background audio keeps going if your screen locks.

2

Talk

Up to seven "talk-about-it" cards open after the story — gentle prompts to discuss what just happened, together.

3

Play

A five-question Mokshapatam quiz reinforces names and lessons — no scoring drama, just play.

4

Meet

Browse 200 characters with portraits, roles, and the tales they appear in. ~50 already have audio intros.

Languages

From day one, in three.

Every story is told end-to-end in English, Hindi, and Telugu — voice, transcript, character intros, and quiz feedback. Tamil and other Indian languages are next.

AI disclosure

AI-told. Human-curated. Openly correctable.

KathaSagaram's stories are written and voiced with help from large language and text-to-speech models, then read end-to-end by a human reviewer before publication. Every story carries a version number; every retelling can be retracted within a minute if a parent, scholar, or community member spots a problem.

If a story doesn't ring true to your tradition — pronunciation, regional variant, theological detail, anything — please message us on WhatsApp. Corrections are tracked publicly and shipped over-the-air.

Common questions

Things parents ask

Is there any tracking or ads?

No ads, no third-party tracking. We collect your child's first name and age (locally on the device); we send the age in anonymised form alongside a random id so we can understand what age groups use which stories. Reset everything from Settings → Reset progress.

What does it cost?

The app is free during early access. We may introduce optional family memberships once the catalog grows, but the two launch stories will always be free.

Why these two stories first?

Krishna the Butter Thief and Ganesha Gets His Elephant Head are widely-loved entry points across Indian traditions, with broad regional consistency. Once the launch cohort gives feedback, we open up the next stories — Hanuman, Govardhan, and beyond.

Can I share a story with my family?

Yes. From any story page, tap Share — anyone who taps the link on their phone will jump straight into the story if they have the app, or to a preview page if they don't. Same for the characters.

How do I report a mistake?

Every story and character page has a small feedback button that opens a pre-filled WhatsApp message to +91 9990912205. We aim to acknowledge cultural and pronunciation concerns within 24–48 hours.
